An M.Sc is a research degree in everything but name, and we treat it as one. Two semesters of advanced coursework, then two semesters built around a dissertation with genuine laboratory or computational work behind it — not a compiled review, not a copied methodology, and defended before an external examiner who is free to fail it.
What makes this possible at a self-financed institute in western UP is the engineering campus around it. M.Sc Physics students use the engineering electronics and materials benches. M.Sc Chemistry students use analytical instrumentation that a standalone degree college could not justify buying. M.Sc Mathematics and Computer Science students use the same GPU workstations as the AI/ML centre of excellence.
Sixty seats across four subjects, cohorts of fifteen or fewer, and a NET/GATE preparation module across all four semesters at no extra charge.
"My dissertation used the spectrophotometer three afternoons a week for a full semester. At my previous college I would have been given a literature review." — Pooja Saini, M.Sc Chemistry 2025
Four theory papers with laboratory or computational practicals. A two-week refresher in mathematical methods and scientific computing runs before teaching begins.
Advanced papers plus the instrumentation and technique module. Dissertation areas are identified and supervisors allocated at the end of this semester.
Elective specialisation papers alongside the first phase of dissertation work, with a mid-term progress seminar assessed by the department.
Predominantly dissertation work with one remaining paper. The defence is before an internal supervisor and an external examiner from another university.
20 seats. Real and complex analysis, abstract algebra, topology, numerical methods and operations research, with a computational elective shared with the AI department.
15 seats. Quantum mechanics, statistical and solid-state physics, electronics and a materials characterisation elective, using the engineering physics benches.
15 seats. Organic, inorganic, physical and analytical chemistry, with spectrophotometry, chromatography and a synthesis laboratory.
10 seats. Algorithms, databases, machine learning and distributed systems, taught with the engineering faculty on the same GPU workstations.
Two semesters of supervised original work with real laboratory or computational content, defended before an external examiner.
Four semesters of syllabus coverage and problem practice for UGC-NET, CSIR-NET and GATE, included in the tuition fee.
Of the 2025 M.Sc batch, 29% entered teaching at intermediate or degree-college level, 24% took laboratory, quality-control or analyst employment, 21% qualified NET or GATE, and 14% moved into Ph.D. programmes — four of them outside the state.
Employers and destinations for this programme: Three regional pharmaceutical units, Uttam Sugar Mills and Triveni Engineering quality laboratories, private diagnostic and food testing laboratories across western UP, intermediate colleges across the district, and Ph.D. programmes at CCSU, IIT Roorkee and Jamia Millia Islamia.
Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from IIT Roorkee, CSIR-NET and JRF, with fifteen years of postgraduate teaching and twenty-two peer-reviewed publications. She coordinates the dissertation programme across all four subjects.
Real dissertations, real instrumentation, 50% remission for GATE and CSIR-NET qualified candidates.
