B.Tech — Civil Engineering

Civil engineering students surveying on site
4 Years · 8 Semesters 120 Seats English AKTU · NBA Accredited 4.6 (264 reviews)

Programme Overview

Civil Engineering at MIT is taught with the Delhi–Dehradun expressway corridor, the Upper Ganga canal system and the district's road programme within an hour's drive. That proximity is the department's biggest teaching asset: site visits happen every semester, on live works, with the resident engineers explaining what went wrong as well as what went right.

Alongside the standard AKTU core — structures, geotechnics, transportation, water resources — the department runs an applied research strand on materials that are cheap and locally available. Its fly-ash concrete study for district roads is currently under review by the state PWD.

Every Civil student completes a full survey camp and at least two live-site visits per semester from year two onward. Textbook soil mechanics is one thing; a trial pit in Muzaffarnagar clay is another.

Frequently Asked Questions

The closing rank reflects demand, not job availability. India is in the middle of the largest infrastructure build in its history and this region sits on an expressway corridor. Our Civil graduates place at 92% and dominate the government-exam route. If you enjoy the subject, the lower cut-off is an advantage, not a warning.

At least two live-site visits per semester from year two, plus the ten-day residential survey camp in semester four. Past sites have included the Ganga canal works, expressway package sections and a municipal water treatment plant.

Yes. The library has a dedicated competitive-exam section, and the department runs an evening GATE and SSC-JE preparation batch in years three and four at no additional charge. Eighteen percent of the 2025 batch converted a government post within a year.

Both exist. Site execution roles are more numerous and pay a posting allowance; design, estimation and planning roles are office-based and typically ask for STAAD.Pro or BIM proficiency, which the third-year electives cover.

120 Seats. Applications Close 31 August.

Scholarships of up to 100% for JEE rank holders and district toppers.
